Multiple Match 5 Winners As Mega Millions Jackpot Nears $1 Billion

The record-breaking jackpot run continued for Mega Millions last night as nobody matched all the numbers, but the game’s new prize structure helped to create lots of exciting payouts. It sets up the prospect of an even bigger draw on Friday evening, when an estimated jackpot of $965 million will be on offer.

Nobody Lands $900M Jackpot

The $900 million jackpot up for grabs on Tuesday November 11th was already the eighth-largest of all time. It had also set a record for the longest streak without a winner in the game’s history, surpassing the 37-roll sequence which ran from late 2020 and ended with a $1.05 billion payout in Michigan in January 2021.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were revealed to be 10, 13, 40, 42 and 46, with a Mega Ball of 1. While no tickets matched the full line, there were more than 809,000 winners across the 47 participating jurisdictions and some great prizes were given away.

After a few draws without anyone matching five numbers, there were three players who won in the second tier - just missing out on the Mega Ball. One of those participants, from Arizona, had a 5X multiplier on their ticket, so their prize was boosted from $1 million to $5 million. Two others, one from Iowa and one from New York, landed $3 million thanks to having the 3X multiplier.

The introduction of the Multiplier feature was one of the key changes made to the game back in April. It replaced the optional Megaplier and ensured that every single non-jackpot prize would be at least doubled, and potentially increased by up to 10 times. The lowest prize on the game is therefore $10, while you can even win $50 just by matching the Mega Ball on its own (if you have the 10X multiplier). Go to the Prize Breakdown page for November 11th to see all the payouts for the draw.

Another $1 Billion Draw Beckons

The $965 million jackpot on Friday is worth $445.3 million if you decide to take the lump sum instead. To find out how much you would take home after federal and state withholdings, check out the Mega Millions Taxes page. Some states do not tax lottery winnings, but others withhold a small percentage. It is also vital to discuss your own circumstances with a qualified tax professional in the event of a big win.

If the jackpot rolls again on Friday, it will push past the $1 billion mark for the following draw. It has only reached 10 figures on seven previous occasions, most recently at Christmas time last year when Rosemary Casarotti from California pocketed $1.22 billion.

It may not even be too long before the current jackpot approaches record territory. The biggest win in history dates back to August 2023, when Saltines Holdings, LLC from Florida claimed $1.602 billion.

It certainly promises to be a thrilling run of draws until there is a winner, so make sure to grab a ticket while the jackpot is still high. In some states, you can even order your tickets online through a courier such as Jackpot.com for added convenience.
