Mega Millions Jackpot Won for Second Time in a Week

It proved to be a St Patrick’s Day to remember for a Mega Millions player from Ohio, as the jackpot was won for the second time in the space of a week. The value of the grand prize was $60 million.

After going for more than three months without a jackpot winner, someone from Illinois matched all the numbers on Tuesday March 10th to land a gigantic $533 million. It reset to $50 million for the following draw and was then won again in the latest draw. It is the first time since August 2023 that there has been such a fast turnaround for wins.

The winning numbers for March 17th were 4, 11, 18, 38 and 50, plus a gold Mega Ball of 24. Go to the Mega Millions Numbers page to see a full breakdown of all the prizes won for this draw.

Ohio has previously been the scene of 21 Mega Millions jackpot wins, making it the fourth most successful state. The wait now begins for the latest winner to come forward, although they do have 180 days to make their claim so there may not be any imminent announcements.

The lucky player must also decide whether to take the $60 million as an annuity, or go for a lump-sum payout of $27.1 million. Big winners in Ohio are allowed to stay anonymous, so no more information may ever be disclosed about their identity.

Historic $10 Million Win

The two-draw jackpot run was not only notable for being so short, it also featured a historic moment on Friday 13th March. For the first time, someone won $10 million in the second tier. The eight-figure payout went to a ticket holder from Florida.

Having the chance to win $10 million without even matching all the numbers was one of the new features introduced to Mega Millions last year. Instead of the old Megaplier, each ticket now has an in-built multiplier, which increases non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x. It also means that you can win up to $50 just by matching the Mega Ball without any of the first five numbers.

Another one of the 2025 changes was an increase in the minimum jackpot. It always starts at an impressive $50 million. Get your tickets for the next draw now and see if you can keep the run of winners going!
