Mega Millions Jackpot Won Again As NJ Player Lands $90 Million

The previous win came on November 14th and brought an end to the longest jackpot run in the game’s history - 40 consecutive drawings. This time the turnaround has been much quicker, but the jackpot still had time to rise to $90 million before it was won.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were 17, 25, 26, 53 and 60, with a Mega Ball of 16. There were 184,220 prizes given away in total, with the new-look multiplier helping to boost payouts by up to 10 times their base value. 

Only one ticket matched the full winning line, and it was revealed shortly after the draw that it had been sold in New Jersey. The Garden State is the third most successful state in terms of jackpot winners, and this is the 26th time that a player from NJ has banked the top prize.

They now have one year to come forward and claim their prize. If they wish to take the cash option rather than the $90 million annuity, they will be due $41.9 million before taxes. 

Winners in New Jersey are allowed to claim prizes anonymously, so it may be that no more information ever gets disclosed about the identity of the winner, or even whether the ticket belonged to an individual or a group.

Jackpot Wins in 2025

There have now been six jackpot wins in 2025 - two more than in the whole of 2024. The first one was worth $113 million and arrived in January, going to an anonymous player from Arizona. Next up was a $349 million payout to a ticket holder from Illinois on March 25th.

Mega Millions underwent a series of major changes in early April, and a couple of weeks later the Ironwood Family Trust from Ohio pocketed $112 million to become the first jackpot winners under the new format.

An anonymous player from Virginia won $348 million in June, before the jackpot went on its record-breaking long run over the next four and a half months. The $980 million prize won in Georgia on November 14th has still not been claimed.

It remains to be seen whether the jackpot is won for a seventh time in 2025, but in the meantime it will reset to $50 million for the next draw on Friday. Make sure to pick up a ticket to give yourself a chance of winning, then check the numbers as soon as they are available.
