Mega Millions

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery held in the United States twice a week, regularly offering up jackpots over $300 million. Entries cost $2 per line when entered into either the Tuesday or Friday draw that takes place at 23:00 Eastern Time. Each drawing offers players the chance to win in any of the nine prize tiers that start with paying out to players who matched just the Mega Ball, all the way up to the jackpot for those matching all five numbers and the Mega Ball. You can also play with the Megaplier for an extra $1 on your entry to give you a chance to multiply all non-jackpot prizes by up to 5x!

The Mega Millions numbers will be announced here every Tuesday and Friday shortly after the 23:00 draw time, and will include all five numbers, the Mega Ball and Megaplier that were selected.

Mega Millions Prizes

Mega Millions offers nine levels of prizes that increase with the more numbers you match, starting when you match just the Mega Ball. Every time you then match another number on top of that your payout will grow until you reach the jackpot for matching all the five numbers drawn and the Mega Ball. If you play with the Megaplier then the payouts you can win will be multiplied by the Megaplier number, which ranges from 2 to 5. The exception is the jackpot, but you could win $5 million without even matching all the numbers. Find out more about the Prizes you can win via the button below.

Upcoming Changes to Mega Millions

Mega Millions is set to undergo major changes in April 2025. The updates will include changes to the ball matrix that is used, specifically lowering the ball pool for the Mega Ball from 25 to 24, making the odds of winning a prize much better for every player. The Megaplier will be removed and replaced with a built-in multiplier that is included in the new $5 entry fee. It could multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to 10X. You can find a complete list of every change on our dedicated changes page using the button below.

How to Play

Playing Mega Millions is extremely easy regardless of if you’re a seasoned lottery player or entering for the first time. Just follow the steps below and you will be all set with an entry:

Pick Numbers
1
Pick your numbers

You need to choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and a Mega Ball from 1 to 25. If you don’t have a selection of numbers you want to play, or just can’t think of any, then you can use the QuickPick option which will randomly choose the numbers for you.

Choose your extras

You have the option of choosing to include the Megaplier for an extra $1 on your ticket which will boost any non-jackpot prizes you win by 2 to 5 times the normal prize amount. You can also enter the same numbers or QuickPick for a number of draws in a row by selecting from the range on your ticket. Here you can also choose to enter Tuesday, Friday or both draws. Take your pick from all these extras and mark those you want to play, or just leave them blank and just enter one draw.

Pay for your entries

Each line entered will cost $2, or $3 if you include the Megaplier. Therefore, if you have entered your numbers into more than one drawing, the entry fee will be multiplied by the number of draws you have entered it into, so make sure you know how much the ticket will cost before you go to pay.

Keep your ticket safe

Put your tickets somewhere safe and wait for the draw to take place. The best way to make sure you can’t lose your ticket is to sign the back of it, as it would prevent anyone else from making a claim. You can find out more tips on how to play by viewing the full guide via the button below.
