Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps To $136 Million

The Mega Millions jackpot is up to $136 million for the next drawing on Friday night, after rolling over for the ninth time in a row. While Tuesday’s top prize may not have been won, there were still thousands of cash awards given away across America.

The numbers drawn on Tuesday were 14, 17, 25, 48 and 58, with Mega Ball 25 and a Megaplier of x3. A jackpot of $120 million was up for grabs if anyone had managed to match all five main numbers plus the Mega Ball, but it remained just out of reach.

The biggest winners on the night were the two players who matched the five white numbers to pocket $1 million each. One of the tickets was sold in New York, at a Rite Aid in Dryden, and the winner now has one year to come forward and claim their prize.

The other $1 million entry was purchased in Saint Charles in Illinois. The Jewel Osco at 652 Kirk Road will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the lucky Quick Pick ticket, and the winner has been urged to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe until they come forward. Like in New York, the claim period for Mega Millions prizes in Illinois is one year.

The other prizes won on Tuesday spread from $2 for matching just the Mega Ball to $10,000 for matching four main numbers plus the Mega Ball. One lucky player also added the Megaplier option to treble their prize to $30,000. Go to the Mega Millions Numbers page to find more details about the winners and payouts.

How High Will The Jackpot Climb?

While everyone who enters the Mega Millions draw on Friday will be hoping to lay their hands on the $136 million jackpot, history suggests it could keep on growing for quite some time. The jackpot has only been won once since the matrix changed last October, with 20-year-old Shane Missler from Florida landing an incredible $451 million on Friday 5th January. The record still stands at $656 million, dating back to the drawing on March 30th 2012 when three players split the jackpot.

It remains to be seen whether the jackpot will reach similar proportions in the next few weeks or whether it might possibly be won on Friday night. You can pick up a ticket in any participating state to try and become the second jackpot winner of 2018. Good luck!
