The Mega Millions and the winners who stayed secret
8th June 2022 6:56 PM
The Mega Millions continues to get bigger and the start of summer hasn’t slowed it down at all.
Currently standing at $226 Million, the Mega Millions is picking up attention as everyone has eyes on the prize. The latest draw that took place on Tuesday, June 7th produced no Jackpot winner but there were a few runners up as always.
The winning numbers are 4 34 40 41 53 and 3
Imagine winning a huge Jackpot - you’ll probably want to scream it from the rooftops but some winners have played it smart before and decided not to make these announcements. One of the most common pieces of advice for potential winners is to lay low, and not tell many people about the windfall as this seems to bring out crazy friends, relatives, and acquaintances who think they can ask you for a handout. For this reason, many wish to remain anonymous but sometimes due to law or regulation, this anonymity is not possible. A jackpot winner very often must reveal their identity to the public when they make their claim for their winnings. Some have been clever about this though and have used everything from wacky aliases to full-on legal trusts to keep their identity hidden. Here are some examples and we only wish we could guess the stories behind some of them:
Banana Head - are they a superhero? Do they fight fruit-related crimes? Maybe their arch-nemesis is called the Harvester! - Don’t tell Hollywood, they’re desperate for any superheroes that can be made into a movie.
Peekie Poo - maybe the “peek-a-boo” trust was already taken.
The Moms Birthday Trust - a gentleman was on his way to visit his elderly mum in a care home for her birthday. Since his mother’s birthday falls close to Halloween, he decided to stop and buy some sweets and chocolates for her in the spirit of Halloween. While getting these sweet surprises, this unnamed gentleman decided to buy a lottery ticket, unknowingly buying a sweet surprise for himself.
I wish this happened sooner Trust! Apparently, the elderly gentleman who opened this trust was in his twilight years and would have loved to have been able to make better use of his winnings in his more youthful days.
What alias or trust would you use to claim your winnings?
We want to put your mind at ease by letting you know that playing the Mega Millions is easy. Each line consists of five different main numbers and a single Mega Ball number. To complete a line, the main numbers must be between 1 and 70 and a Mega Ball number between 1 and 25. Once you have these numbers, you may complete a single line. You can purchase multiple lines on a single lotto draw if you have more than one set of numbers. Additionally, if you like to play the same numbers over and over, you can buy a subscription so that you’ll never miss a draw.
The Mega Millions draws on Tuesdays and Fridays at 23:00 EST (or 05:00 am GMT), so if you were considering joining an upcoming draw, tonight could be your night. Imagine what you could do if you won it all!
