Mega Millions Winner in Leander Claims $227 Million Jackpot

The holder of the winning ticket from the September 24th draw has finally come forward to claim his prize. 

Texan Player Claims Prize after $227 million Jackpot Win

A resident in Texas has come forward to claim the whopping prize of $227 million after matching all numbers for the Mega Millions draw that took place on September 24th. At the time when ticket was purchased the cash value option was selected and the winner, who elected to stay anonymous, will take home $157,091,592. 

The winning ticket, which was bought from Lakeline Express Mart in Cedar Park, matched the numbers 6-14-24-42-46 and Mega Ball 9. The retailer will receive a bonus of $1 million for selling the winning ticket. 

Although there were bigger jackpots won in Texas, this is the largest win ever paid out to a single lottery player. The winner becomes the 13th Mega Millions Jackpot winner in the state and the first since October 26th when Garon R. Horton, Trustee, of Rockwall, claimed a €49 million prize. 

Latest Mega Millions Results 

The winning numbers for the $105 million Mega Millions drawn on Tuesday, October 29th draw were 4-9-17-27-39 - Mega Ball 22 - Megaplier 2x.

There were no tickets which matched all six numbers. However, two second-prize tickets matched all five numbers except for the Mega Ball, and are worth $1 million each. Neither tickets used the Megaplier option which would have doubled their winning prize to $2 million each. 

Twelve people matched four balls as well as the Mega Ball, winning $10,000 each. Four of these people used the Megaplier option which doubled their win to $20,000 each. 

The next Mega Millions draw will be held this Friday, November 1st with a jackpot of $118 million with a cash option of $79.3 million.
