Illinois Player Wins $4 Million Mega Millions Prize Thanks to Megaplier

The Mega Millions jackpot rolled again on Tuesday night and will now rise to $243 million for the next drawing on Friday night after going through the whole of February without being won, but there have still been a host of big prizes given away during the past month.

One player from Illinois picked up a prize of $4 million on Friday February 23rd after matching all five main white balls and including the Megaplier option on their ticket. Another two participants, both from New York, also won $1 million each in the same draw after matching the five white numbers without adding the Megaplier.

What is the Megaplier?

The Megaplier is an option on Mega Millions tickets for participants in every state apart from California. It costs an extra $1 but the attraction is that you can multiply any non-jackpot prize by the value of the Megaplier ball drawn on the night. The Megaplier can increase your prize by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. Find out more about the Megaplier and how it works.

Mega Millions Results

The most recent Mega Millions draw, on Tuesday February 27th, had a Megaplier of 3x. The numbers drawn were 10, 17, 21, 38 and 43, with Mega Ball 23. There were over 578,000 winners altogether, although nobody matched the full line.

Mega Millions Jackpot

The jackpot has remained out of reach now for 15 consecutive draws, since 20-year-old Shane Missler from Florida won $451 million on Friday 5th January. If you want to try and become only the second winner of the top prize in 2018, you can go to an authorized retailer in any participating state. Good luck!
